About my Hobbies

Posted on Thu, 10 Jan 2008

It has been said, multiple times, and quite accurately, that my hobby is the collection of hobbies; to which I would add the qualifier of starting the hobby, and maybe toying with it, never really do much with it. Perhaps I just have a short attention span for such things; which explains why I don't play computer games much at all.

To give you an idea, here is a list of hobbies I have accumulated over the last few years: collecting beer bottle labels (carrying on my late grandfathers hobby,) candle recycling, calligraphy, paper making, rosary making, balsa-wood modelling, microcontroller programming, and probably a few more.

Likely future hobbies: yoga, meditation, Indian cooking, ballroom dancing, basket weaving...

No paper, no plastic, bring your own Furoshiki

Furoshiki are a traditional Japanese folding cloth used for carrying things, before plastic bags were introduced in the post-war period in Japan. Quite interesting, and with a suitable cloth should be a nice way of presenting a gift also. Plus it gets bonus points for being eco-friendly, and you could even wear it instead of having to carry around a cloth bag with you.
